November 1, 1862, marks the founding of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, established in Warsaw by Teresa Ewa, Countess Potocka (née Sułkowska). On that day, Archbishop Zygmunt Szczęsny Feliński—who is now a saint—consecrated the first chapel and house where the Sisters began their mission of mercy among girls and women in need of moral and spiritual renewal.
It was this Congregation that St. Faustina Kowalska (then known as Helena Kowalska) entered in 1925.
Through her, God revealed His message of merciful love for all humanity and introduced new forms of devotion to the Divine Mercy.
Today, the Congregation faithfully continues the mission entrusted to St. Faustina. Members of the Faustinum Association also participate in this mission, bearing witness to the truth of God’s mercy in the modern world, in close collaboration with the sisters.
Together with all the saints, let us give thanks to God for the gift of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy. Let us pray that the charism of mercy may continue to inspire the hearts of every Sister and all members of the Faustinum Association, and that the truth of God’s merciful love may transform every human heart!
