15th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Gospel: (Mk 6:7-13)

Calling the Twelve to him, he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits.

These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff–no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town.  And if any place will not welcome you or listen to you, leave that place and shake the dust off your feet as a testimony against them.”

They went out and preached that people should repent. They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.

St. Faustina noted in her Diary (D. 1396, 194)

Oh, if only sinners knew My mercy, they would not be perishing in such large numbers. Tell sinful souls not to be afraid to come to Me, tell them of My great mercy.

I want to exert myself, work, and exhaust myself to accomplish our work of saving immortal souls.

  • Today Jesus invites me to cooperate with His intention to save every soul … He says very specifically: Tell sinful souls not to be afraid to come to Me, tell them of My great mercy.
  • Do I have a desire to proclaim and beg for God’s mercy, and even more to exert, work, and exhaust myself to accomplish work of saving immortal souls?
