Mary …

Even such signs of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ as the empty grave, the presence of Angels, or the conversation with Him alone, did not help this grieving woman to open her eyes to the mystery of Mercy and its victory. You can even be like what she was after being exorcised (Mk 16: 9) and still do not trust the Love that conquered  evil and death. Because you can talk to God about everything, you can pray and kneel for hours, but never let Him approach you. Then the truth about the Resurrection of God Who lives, Who IS right next to you, in you and in me, is always distant, alien …

Everything changed when Christ called her by her name: Mary … (J 20:16). At the tone of His voice, the strings of Mary Magdalene’s heart thrilled with joy and a sense of happiness. It was only when she recognized Jesus, only then did she, as if, rose again. She removed the heavy stone of the old way of thinking. She turned 180 degrees towards Jesus (J 20:16) and then the Risen One ceased to be a strange gardener to her. He became her Beloved Teacher: Rabbouni. Because only when I let God call me by my name, when I allow Him to create this only intimate relationship of love with me, only then my heart will open to the reality of the new life. St. Faustina wrote in her Diary: I will rise from the dead in Jesus, but first I must live in Him (Diary, 392). This Sunday when we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord, let us pray for the grace of strengthening our relationship with Christ so that we may rise to the New Life. Amen.
