How do you live?…

In the sixth week of Lent, you are invited to reflect on how you live … What lies within your heart, how it reacts to the suffering of others …

Our heart performs at least 60 beats per minute, thanks to which blood gets into all organs and we can function normally. On the other hand, when we hear that someone close to us is sick and we can’t help, we say that it hurts our heart. It is a source of life, feelings, love and goodness. It’s because we have a good heart that others can count on us. Unfortunately, there are times when we behave as if we had a heart of stone. We are not moved by human misery, we are cold and insensitive, as if something in us has died … What is in your heart? In what rhythm does it beat?

With whom does your heart rest? Do you find a source of relief in God in hard times? Jesus said to St. Faustina: My Heart overflows with great mercy for souls (…). If only they could understand that I am the best of Fathers to them and that it is for them that the Blood and Water flowed from My Heart as from a fount overflowing with mercy (Diary 367) . Such is the heart of God, in Him there is a place for everyone …

In Holy Week, look at Jesus’ pierced heart and draw strength and life from Him. Only with His help we can love while suffering. Only with his help everyone will find a place in our heart. Listen to the thirsty Jesus: My daughter, I desire that your heart be formed after the model of My merciful Heart. You must be completely imbued with My mercy (Diary, 167).

Repeat every time when the words of complaint and rejection come to your lips: Help me, O Lord, that my heart may be merciful so that I myself may feel all the sufferings of my neighbor. I will refuse my heart to no one. I will be sincere even with those who, I know, will abuse my kindness. And I will lock myself up in the most merciful Heart of Jesus. I will bear my own suffering in silence. May Your mercy, O Lord, rest upon me (Diary 163).

Courage!
